Was visiting Louisville from out of town and wanted to find a small place with good food and drinks near our Airbnb and I'm happy to say we did!! The wood fired French toast was the best breakfast I have ever had, I will dream about it. The staff was super friendly and overall had an awesome experience! Decent prices too!

I went to a lot of places in Louisville, okay? So this spot came up when I was looking up brunches, but I had decided to go somewhere else. But I ended up stopping here after, because while I had eaten a meal, I was doing a lot of walking and could get more. The line was out the door and the place was completely full. There was a music festival happening and so more popular spots were overflowing in the middle of the day. There was an abundance of tables outside, and from what I learned, one side was serviced dine-in, and the other was self-seating. I was able to get inside past the line, because I was by myself, and had a hunch that the bar had space. I was right -- there was literally one seat left. Brunch was still happening, and they had some pizzas that caught my eye -- monte cristo and sweet corn. A local restaurant back home has a fantastic monte cristo burrito... so this place turns that into a pizza?! I didn't have THAT much room after brunch, and I didn't wanna carry around a pizza box, so I told myself I'd return... I never did :(. But I ended up going with their sourdough beignets. Seemed like a light and sweet treat to finish off my meal. And wow, they were fantastic. They were oh so fluffy, and came with strawberry preserves that really set them off. Garage Bar was completely full, but they were handling the crowd pretty well. Whenever I do return to Louisville, I'm getting one of those pizzas!

Stopped in here for a photo op during a tour of NuLu. The art installation out front is ever changing with the 2 cars placed on a hydraulic track to slowly crush each other. Plan to return soon to further explore the venue.

Our next stop on our quest to get "soused" was Garage Bar for another drink and a small bite to eat, as we were going to have dinner later, but we didn't want to get too soused... yet. To drink, I had an Old Fashioned and Bruce had a Basil Gimlet. To eat, we shared a Margherita pizza which was very tasty -- much better than I was expecting! We weren't there for long, but we enjoyed what we ate and drank. I'd go back! [Yelp collections: Louisville/Indianapolis 2023; Louisville, KY 2023]

My family and I really enjoyed Garage Pizza, which is right in the Nulu neighborhood and was steps away from our Airbnb. The staff was very welcoming and sat us inside at one of the tables near the bar. The cocktails were great here, making me an Old Fashioned, light on the sugar and heavy on the bourbon! The hit of the evening was the Ham & Cheese Board. This was so delicious and my family chowed down on the two types of local ham, cheeses and local bread. The house-made meatballs were also the next big hit. These didn't last very long and were so hearty and tasty. Finally, we had the pizza. This is the signature dish here. It was probably my least favorite dish but still tasty. I joke that even okay pizza is still really good pizza. The crust was a little dry and it seemed like the pizza was out of the oven for quite awhile. Overall though, we loved the experience here. The drinks and most of the dishes were fantastic.

If it's summer you absolutely should be here sitting outside. But it also has to be noted their take out team are superstars. Incredibly kind staff over the phone & you can order far ahead of time! The margarita pizza is truly mouth watering. I truly love it.

The Garage bar is a super chill restaurant located in the NULU area of downtown Louisville. It's a converted automotive garage turned restaurant that is comfy and inviting. The vibe of the garage is still present through the former cars bays (now windows that open up for outside, the outdoor seating area is situated where cars would usually enter the car bays and the hostess area is the former lobby/waiting area for work to be completed. The service is über nice and inviting. They checked up at the right times and were helpful in food and drink choices. They are mostly known for their pizza so we ordered a good variety to taste. The bison pizza, pepperoni and their cheeses bread. We also ordered their meatballs and fried beets (yeah I thought the same...fried beets??) which were pretty tasty. I would definitely go back for the casual atmosphere, the good food and the proximity to my hotel (steps from the AC Hotel)

Our second stop and we had a super time here becauuse how could you not? The Garage Bar is appropriately named as it is a converted service station with the dining room inside where cars were probably lifted up for oil changes and repairs, the outside where the pumps used to be. It's an interesting vibe and on a hot summer day, we sat inside. Warmly welcomed, we placed drink orders and a pizza to share. The margarita pizza didn't take long. Tasty, fresh and topped appropriately with cheese and a piece of basil for each slice. Very flavorful. For my drink, the basil gimlet caught my eye. A little spicy, a lot of booze and freshingly chilling on this hot day. When the drinks were done, we headed onwards to a full dinner but this was fun! Garage Bar came as a recommendation from our Uber driver, and we were glad that he called it out to us. We stopped by after dinner and decided to sit inside at the bar that was now housed in what was historically an auto body shop. In addition to the indoor area with the bar, several tables, and their pizza oven, there was an outdoor yard with picnic tables and ping pong. Both areas were perfect for larger groups that would want to hang out for a bit. Speaking of, we sat at the bar for a good deal of time, mingling with other patrons and enjoying our drinks. I just opted for a Passion Fruit High Noon, but I did sample my boyfriend's District Eight cocktail, which included bourbon, orange, house tonic, lemon, and angostura. It was very citrusy and refreshing, but also had a generous dose of bitters. Garage Bar was unique, enjoyable, and worth a visit.
